Moved to the Big League and moved the team to Las Venturas, the gambling city. Will miss the Sun Devils and our battles with Massive. 22 emails me daily, saying the Sun Devils are without management and what is going to happen to him, and why cant he come to Las Venturas and play for The Armidillos. God knows we could use him, cursed the no-inter-league-trading rule!

What an absolute disaster. Time to think about the rest of the season and what we plan to do with it!!!

Three weeks gone and a 1-2 record which is where we wanted to be at this point in time (realistically). The loss of Dierdorf has hit the players badly and we are hoping they can pick themselves up prior to the game with the Raiders. We have had some great games and recently things have gone our way but this is a much improved Raiders team and we really have to focus going into their house. 2-2 looks a hell of a lot better than 1-3 and all we can do is play hard and fair and hope that we win out in the end.

Coaching staff at the Dillo's just watched in dispare as we were trounced in pre season by the Hawks. Fair enough we knew we had problems but the nature of the defeat was appaling as does not bode well for the coming season. Opening against the Wraiths could be the start of the end for this team idf they do not buck up their ideas and various items have been thrown around the dressing room this week in training. Worst case scenario is that more young players than originall yexpected could be seeing time before the season is out unless the vets get their act together.

The Armadillos are delighted to have secured the signing of rookie QB Cougar with the 11th pick of this years draft. He is a player we have followed for a couple of years whilst he has been at Syracuse and we now look forward to adding him to our roster prior to pre season training

Day before the final season game and it is good to see that the Dodgers fans are already in town with their brightly coloured cardigans, how on earth they will survive in the heat here in Albuquqerque with them on I dodn't know. The Dillo fans held a big party in town last night and it was great to see the two sets of fans mingling and having a good time. All the preperations hacve been made and a new gameplan put in place but we will see how the players respond. We have had a good week on the pratice field and I know the players want to do their best so lets hope they show their true colours tomorrow.

A workman like performance sees us move to 4-5 our best franchise record to date and all I can say is a hearty well done to all the players on the roster and to the coaches for the hard work they have put in to this season. Hopefully a good off season should see us more competitive against all the teams in our division and hopefully keep us ahead of the Raiders. So to this week and the Dodgers who travel to Albuquerque in need of a big win. The fans should expect to see us work hard for the full 60 minutes and all we can do is our best. I know the Dodgers will be looking to try and rack up the points against us and all we are telling the players is to stick in there and not lose heart should they start to succeed. That having been said we will be trying our best to be competitive on the scoreboard, we lost by 55 in Fair Isle at the start of the season and if posssible we want to get that margin down. To the long suffering Dillo fans we would like to say thanks for being with us and we hope better times lie ahead.

so we reach week 9 and stand at 3-5 which is well above where we thought we would be. We go into our second game against the Raiders chasing a franchise record fourth win, not much in big terms but a big deal to us. The Raiders are rebuilding but the signs are looking better for them as the season has worn on, it is a tough road and one we have driven but I think both teams are on the right track in the long term. This young Armadillos team have worked hard all season and some of the young players have developed really well. Coyote has carried the workload on offence but Fox is looking better each week and may be next season will see him prove to be the player we know he can become. On defence the ends have played hard, tackle Dugong is starting to show a little of why he was the #1 pick but there is a lot of room for improvement in his performance. CB Thompsongazelle has really come on the coaching staff think he may well be a regular starter next season. Some of the vets on the OL have done well but overall returner Hare has been one of the stndouts for us, he is in the top 3 of both punt and kick returns and the young players blocking for him should be proud of what they have helped him achieve. Here is hoping to be 4-5 after this weeks game and then look forward to a game against the Dodgers to finish off our season.

So what do you take out of a 45-0 defeat where you have lost the yardage battle 539-95 and time of ofense 40:30 to 19:30. If you are the Armadillos it is the knowledge that the players played as hard as they could and on the day were just not good enough to beat one of the conference favourites. Our swecond string lost 7-0 to the Blaze second string in the 4th quarter, see you can always find a positive :-). In reality it shows what we knew already, we are a long way behind the Blze and the dodgers in our division. In the conference I think we are a way behind a few other teams as well but this weeks game against the Saints will show us just how far. Some interesting words being shared between the two head coaches and certainly those of Coach Dowson will be posted on the dressing room door. Can we win, well we will be trying but the Saints are a good team who are chasing their division title. The addition of DE John will certainly make them more potent on defence and our offence gets a chance to pit itself against one of the current GFL greats. 2-4 would not be disgrace in view of the teams we have lost to so far and home advantage lies with the Saints. The 'Dillos will be giving it their all as they do week in week out and the experience of playing the better teams can only help this young side.

A tight win over the slingers takes us into the unknown territory of 2-2. This week sees us have our second match up with the mighty Blaze. Home advantage to the Blaze and I think our performance in week 2 will ensure that we are not given much chance. All we will be asking the players to do is continue to show that they are improving and make sure that our travelling fans have something to shout about unlike the Dodgers game. We go in with nothing to lose as long as we perform as well as we know we can. Can we win, I very much doubt it but we will be tryiong our hardest to make sure the Blaze have to work for their victory!

A disappointing loss this week, not the core just the nature of it. We knew we faced a better team but we got our gameplan wrong and I think the players have to face up to the fact they did not perform to their best. They get another shot at the Dodgers in Week 10 and it could be a must win game for them. Next time we expect to put at least some pressure on them. As for the coming weeks game this could be interesting, we get a chance to play a non divisional team and see how we match up against them. Like ourselves a week 1 win has been followed by two tough defeats so all to play for. We need a good week of practice and to perform on the day if that happens then we are in with a chance, if not it is 1-3.

2 weeks in and there are still positives to be had. The running game is working ok and Fox is still working hard in practice to become the QB we need him to be in the future. Defensively we are doing ok and the young guys in the trenches on both sides of the ball are learning the hard way, which is the only way in this league. The Dodgers away next and another big test, I am sure they will not take us lightly but we must concentrate on doing the things we are good at as well as we can. Be the best you can be will be this weeks motto in the dressing room and during practice. We are already one win more than I thought we would be and on a par with what I predicted (0-10 not being an option).

Its been a funny old week. I honestly went into this season fully expecting a 0-10 season despite the rumours that the Raiders were having a major rebuild. I still felt that this team had work to do to beat anyone no matter what their state of mind. How wrong can a Coach be, the players responded in emphatic style and had the game won before half time. The Dillo fans have never had anything like it to cheer before and it has to rate as our second greatest win ever (after the shock win over the Dodgers which is still #1). I hope the players keep their feet on the ground and just play as hard as they can against the Blaze this coming week. I hold no expectations and just want us to come out of the game healthy and for players such as Fox, Coyote, Quail and Dugong to continue their education in GFL.

So here we are, pre season over and trades completed. The Dillo's problems at RB have found us releasing old stagers and placing our eggs all very firmly in the youth basket. Now is the time for Coyote to stand up and be counted, his experience gained in a tough season 3 should stand him in good stead but he will need plenty of back up. At QB we go in with the inexperienced Fox who has come on leaps and bounds since being drafted but he will need his veteran WR's to play big for him. Realistically I do not see us gaining a win but we must be far more competitive this season than last and this young team has got to start believeing in itself and developing for the future. Week 1 versus the Raiders will be interesting as they have shipped out a lot of veterans and could be vulnerable, however I have felt that before and we have come up well short of the mark. Feeling at the moment is that the Division will fall to a 2 horse race between the Blaze and the Dodgers with the Blaze holding the edge very slightly. For the Dillo's it is a case of gaining experience and being ready for Season 5 when hopefully the aforementioned Blaze and Dodgers start to age badly :-)

Oh for pity's sake why do the aging gods hate us like this. I have tried scrificing chickens, goats (no offence Gerard), pigs, for mer players but still this young team ages like a snail bereft of viagra. Whilst the draft in terms of addressing needs went well my needs now lie in areas not addressed!!!!0-10 beckons again for the Dillo's and not from a lack of trying merely a lack of talent, by the way why can I not pick 0-10 for a predicted record :-(I can only hope that Coaches within my division take some pity and send on the backups at 50 point leads so I can keep my CP's for the following week.

4 rounds down and 4 to go. The Armadillo's are so far very happy with their picks. We obviously had the #1 pick and chose to go with DT Dugong who along with former Pro Bowler's Elephant & Rhino will hopefully help the run D. Round 2 saw us take CB Thompsongazelle, a player we had ranked as the #2 CB in the draft. He has a lot of talent and we hope that pre season will see him develop into a potential NB starter in some situations. Round 3 saw us take RB Roadrunner who was third on our RB list and therefore a good pick as far as we are concerned. In time it is hoped he will form a partnership with Coyote, in the meantime he will certainly see play on special teams. Round 4 and we took Safety Caribou who was the number 3 safety on our draft list and so again we are pleased to add him to our roster. These 4 positions were our top 4 wants and I think we have to be pleased with the potential talent we have so far brought in. If the last 4 rounds are as successful we will be lucky!

I think we can safely say that this season is turning into a complete disaster, we are not competing on any level and this is quite disheartening as a Coach. Major surgery will be required on this squad in the off season to make it competitive never mind a winning one. Oh well at least my last four games are only against sides that are 4-2 at worst!!!! Why was there no option for a 0-10 prediction at the start of the season?

So after two heavy defeats (as expected) we go into our first game against the Raiders. I am sure Coach Lawson will put aside his personal feelings and rack up those points!!!! So I have taken the unusual step of handing over the reins to my number 2 and have submitted my thoughts and advice to him from the Maldives!!!!!!!

well finally got within 10 points of one of my divisional rivals this year. Here is hoping that things continue to improve despite that appalling hit on my QB. Late, apparently the movement from the DE started in 1974!!!!
