Team Blog
19/07/2010 - Every ****** year, another change of uniform. This year it look like a ****** hawaiian pizza. ****** commercialization parasites... [11/0]
10/07/2010 - Planning the Probowl is an honour, but it's a whole new kind of pressure to plan on behalf of 15 others as well as yourself, even when formation choices are severely limited! [10/15]
09/07/2010 - A crushing from the Wraiths even more total than the shock cruching of Boston leaves doubts about the strength of all these modifiers (well let's hope so, or it means the gap between the Wraiths and the rest of the AFC is VAST!). [10/14]
02/07/2010 - Don't believe in miracles - rely on them! [10/13]
30/06/2010 - No idea how after huge passing performances during the season Boston did so little against my modest pass defense, but we celebrate being the 7th team ever to make it to an AFC conference game, and set up for a hugely tough road game to Rhynd with the same 'fight hard and pray for a miracle' attitude. [10/13]
24/06/2010 - Wild season. Knights cards were on the table from the start - I thought 7-3, but so many punters had be down as losing again and again and we had to change their minds the hard way. Never expected a shot at 10-0, but was robbed of it by a misguided minor rule, which made the injuries leading to the w10 tie a moot point. Yet that tie was still needed to seal the franchise's first ever bye. There is no realistic chance in the Divisional unless RME has a Bate moment and fields his backups, but all in all this was a huge season considering it was only supposed to be the second of two rebuild seasons. [10/12]
20/06/2010 - Fate deals a strange hand. First, incredible overperformance against expected stronger teams. Second, a glimpse of unprecedented glory. Third, a well intentioned but tragically unrealistic obscure game rule about motivation. Fourth, diabolically timed injuries and a fingernail final game playing the injured stars to clinch a bye. Fifth, the injured survive the risk and even get better. So.. Sixth in a home Divisional against Boston... Who Knows?!? Expect the unexpected!! [10/11]
29/05/2010 - First to clich their Division!! And as a huge and unexpected bonus, Rockford Black Knights stand for the first time ever as #1 seeds in the AFC!! It may only last a week tho', so I'm taking a screenshot of the standings to prove it really happened! [10/8]
26/05/2010 - Unless we lose to both Stanwell and Scapa Flow subtantially, the Division is already won! Wowser! - this easy schedule lark rocks! [10/7]
10/05/2010 - Things are going well and the schedule looks like a beautiful dream after those nightmare seed-1 skeds year after year. Even if things go a bit wonky it'll be tough to do worse than 7-3. [10/5]
11/04/2010 - A nice FA window (but no 3rd round picks) fleshes out the Special Teams runners nicely and backs up our first ever w1 G-class disaster.Having made a few pundits look like fools in w1, next week is another roadtrip to the friendly Dragons. This was supposed to be a tough game but they looked poor against the Nags even though they were v. unlucky to actually lose. A bad week to have a big plan needed - Friday is gonna be hell. But if we pull this one off the only thing between us and clear water to a wildcard is more bad injuries. [10/2]
10/04/2010 - We're Back in Black. [10/2]
06/04/2010 - Last season's only win was in pre-season. Barring disasters, we can promise our wind for this season are not over yet, and the investments we made by relaxing the reins last season will hopefully pay off. Most worrying at the start of the season though is that the much-vaunted 'death by ageing' of the 'old' teams hasn't happened. Yet once again, the few have the wealth. [10/1]
27/03/2010 - Average ageing (still waiting...) and moderate trading mean the Black Knights are back in contention against all-comers except all the usual teams we've never been competitive with. Just Livin' the Dream here... yup, Livin' the Dream. [10/0]
26/02/2010 - A decent crop of draftees, but sadly the continuing drought in key positions means that problems continue and the franchise will struggle even if ageing is kind for once. [10/0]
17/12/2009 - Never mind the Pros, College is coming! [9/12]
12/12/2009 - With the small playoff quotas to go, Rockford announce a record number of coaching gains on the season with 38. Despite the new mark, this is only 2 over the average expected after factoring in all probabilities for the players targeted. With ageing now so punative, is it good for the league to have the vast majority of a roster's level gains in the hands of the Coaching screen? [9/10]
06/12/2009 - Last week's Moscow trip was supposed to be a win - instead this week's losing of the division-champions-elect nearly became a win. As advertised, the Staff expected 3-7 not 0-10 this season, and need to start looking to the trade market to fix up anything remotely viable for next season. [9/10]
23/11/2009 - Prospects for the big game in Moscow have been dampened by an injury to top IB prospect Grohl, but we'll give it a shot anyway. [9/8]
08/11/2009 - In Knight Country, we're concentrating on coaching this season.Of course in a rebuild one can 'splatter' more, so we've seen 19 gains, but that's still only average once percentage and staff contribs are removed from the mix. But at this rate it will be a record breaking season for gains. It would help if we could sign any decent Def. coach, but have failed every single week either to teams with affinity, of to those offering stupid pay rates. To say any team 'can't get' a coach is very unrealistic. It's not an industry that is short of supply. [9/6]
04/11/2009 - Looks like heading for 1-9.. or worse! [9/5]
